MRC network
An overview of
the workstations, the network and services
Useful
network numbers
If you have a computer with a fixed IP-address
136.155.52.x , where x is a number between 6 and 149 (given to you by the system
administrator), then you also need to specify the following
 | DNS: 136.155.200.90 and 136.155.205.90 |
 | Default Gateway: 136.155.52.1 |
 | Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 |
NOTE!
If your computer is a DHCP client (i.e. using dynamic IP addressing) none of
these values should be set manually.

|
 | SAMBA server

 | NIS+ server
Accounts, automounting, hosts, netgroups etc. for the SUN
workstations
NOTE 1
The number of SUN workstations at MRC are decreasing. The reasons of
continuing maintaining the SUN environment is mostly that
* the image transfer program from the MRC1 scanner has to be run on either
ladybird or cicada
* Automated CD-burning from MRC1 is done to cicada
NOTE 2
The NIS+ for the SUN workstations and NIS for the Linux workstations are
completly separate. If you want to login to both types of systems you need two
accounts.
