 | Practical lunch sessions
For those who did not have the opportunity to scan during the
MR course (4-6 Feb), the lunch times (12:00 - 12:50) between February
16th-20th are available for practical supervised sessions. Please group
yourselves together, 3-5 persons, and contact Stefan Skare (08-51776118,
stefan@skare.se) to
book a time.

 | Hands-on
self-training on the MR scanners
Everyone that attended the MR driving license course and have participated in
of the "practical lunch sessions" are strongly advised to scan on phantoms
before doing the exam. Either by themselves or say two-by-two. The purpose is
to give people hands-on training.
There will be several drop-in occations after office hours (listed below).
Both scanners are reserved in parallel, so there should be plenty of time for
everyone even though we don't have any indivudual booking.
MRC1 & MRC2
Tuesday 17/2 16:30 - 20:00
Wednesday 18/2 16:30 - 20:00
Thursday 19/2 16:30 - 20:00
Friday 20/2 16:30 - 20:00

 | Examination
Part 1 - Safety
This part is not necessary for persons with old MR driving licenses.
To do this oral exam contact the examiner to book an appointment
Examiner: Yords Österman (yords.osterman@ks.se,
08-51776109)
Part 2 - Technical "self-exam"
Those who have done the "practical lunch sessions" and "self-training"
can do a "self-exam" in the following way.
1. Find a time slot by writing your name on a list put next to MRC2.
The time-slots are 30 minutes each. You should do this entirely by yourself
and the scanner to be used is MRC2.
The dates are: February 23th-25th and 1st & 3rd of March.
2. During this time-slot you should perform an exam of the spherical
phantom using the HEAD coil, with the following sequences.
* 3-plane Localizer
* T1-weighted "Whole brain" scan using 3D-SPGR, product version
Use relevant scan parameters that you've learnt during the course
to get reasonable resolution, scan time and T1-weighting.
* T2-weighted 2D Oblique (near axial though) scans using FSE-XL. Use relevant
scan parameters for T2-weighting and so that these slices geometrically
exactly match the next "fMRI" series.
* 2D GE-EPI (fMRI) in the same slice position as the prior series. Remember to
select relevant scan parameters for fMRI, especially TE and resolution.
BUT, don't scan more than 10 image volumes.
NOTE 1: No protocols are to be used
NOTE 2: Scan parameters chosen must be realistic to pass the test
NOTE 3: Type your first and last name in the Patient ID and
Patient Name fields
3. Send an email to Stefan Skare (stefan@skare.se)
and write the exam number and scanner that you've used.
