Printers

 

There are two printers for public use @MRC

1. The Canon IR3300 laserprinter (double sided gray scale printing
If you need a printer driver, visit
canon.se or canon.com and click on "Drivrutiner/Drivers"
Click on "IR Series" -> iR3300 printer -> <Your OS> -> English (other language may also work) -> PCL6
Now you should see a link similar to this:

Canon PCL6 v4.11 Printer Driver (Add Printer Wizard)

Download this file, run & extract it to a directory of your choice.
NOTE! For Windows 2000/XP you can use the driver in this directory: \\136.155.52.105\raid5\drivers\ir3300\win2000xp


2. The inkjet printer Epson Stylus Color 1520 (for colour prints)

Click on your Operating System:

Windows 2000 / XP

Open Control-panel/Printers and click on "Add Printer"/"Lägg till Skrivare" and follow these steps:

  1. Add local printer:

     
  2. Add a "Standard TCP/IP" port:

     
  3. Epson:                   Canon:
     
  4. Click Nästa/Next and "Diskett finns"/"Have disk" and pick the INF-file in the driver directory (that you have created)
     
  5. Epson:                   Canon:

     
  6. Change some printer options by right-clicking on the printer->Properties/Egenskaper->"Printing options"/"Utskriftsinställningar"

    Epson:
    Change paper type to ink-jet

    Canon:
    Change "Printing Style" to 2-sided with Staple.  Change "Quality" to "publications"

 

 

 

Linux - Redhat 7.3/8.0

 

  1. Become root on your computer
     
  2. Type printtool in a terminal, click on "New/Ny"

     
  3. Assign remote hosts and printer drivers

    Canon laser: 
         
    Note that Canon->GP335 is chosen even though the model is Canon->IR3300.
    If you have IR3300 in your list you can of course pick this instead



    Epson 1520:        

     
  4. In the printtool main window,

    select
    Canon and click on "Edit/Redigera"

    Add the alias "lp" 
                       Choose double-sided printing 


    select
    Epson and click on "Edit/Redigera"


            Quality: "720 DPI Highest Quality"
            Media Type: "Ink-jet paper"
